Dear Etomite Community,

Both Ralph and I are aware that many users are waiting on 0.6.1 final, so we are going to take one step closer.

We aren't going to declare it as final just yet, but don't worry, it isn't far off!

So with this post, we are pleased to announce Etomite CMS v0.6.1 RTM (Release To Manufacturer).

This is the last stage before FINAL, and allows you to test our code and find any final niggly bugs - by using the RTM, you are using the STABLE version of Etomite, therefore safe to use in a Production enviroment... Yaay!

Over the last couple of days, I have been asking Ralph: "Is it possible to do this / that", and his reply has always been : "almost - let me check something", and then he comes back with a new parser, with some changes, and BANG - there's new functionality!

I tried to drop hints of one of my major requests to you guys (in my holiday gift post), which took Ralph all of about 1hr to create, and then a few more hours to iron out my bug finding ;) ... my request was this : changing the site's template without having many copies of documents, so add ?tpl=xx where xx is the id of the template, and BANG, theres your user's template for the rest of the site... it stays the same throughout the site, until they choose another template, by using Sessions.

Tabs inside the manager now remember which tab you were last on, which is hand if you are editing a lot of the same type of thing at once ;)

There have also been other changes, most noticable the correct headers sent in error 404 pages, and now also using whatever alias your error page is, instead of just 6.html :D

If you want to use the new printable page function, create a template called "Printable Page", and place whatever you want your printable page to look like in there (remember the [*content*] call), and then create a link to your printable page like this "?printable"

New documentation for this version is coming soon, but if you have any queries, post them in the new 0.6.1 forum. I will be moving things around as we get closer to final, so don't be surprised if you can't find a particular subforum in a same place ;) it's still there, just moved.

Ok, now for information on the downloads.

If we find any bugs, we will update the download pack, and post an item about the bug and the fix ;)

We would like to thank all the community members that have helped in bug finding and code fixing, without this, we wouldn't be at RTM now!

Have fun with your new download, and remember : post bugs you find in the 0.6.1 Bug Tracker - not the main one yet (as 0.6.1 isn't final yet).

Download from: http://beta.etomite.com

Kind Regards,
Dean and Ralph
Etomite Admin.

Dear Etomite Community,
...
So with this post, we are pleased to announce Etomite CMS v0.6.1 RTM (Release To Manufacturer).
....

<<jumps from his chair, jumping up and down and around, making loud but undescribable noise>>

This is the last stage before FINAL...

<<stops jumping>>

Hmm, what to think of this?? From previous posts I understood that RTM=FINAL.
But if I'm correct it is now FINAL=RTM+BugFixes. (Please correct me if I'm wrong!)
I would like there to be a subforum special for these bugfixes, so it 'll be easy to keep track of changes.
(edit)Ah, found it. Thanks Dean!(/edit)

Well congratulations to all involved!!! Very big thumbs up to you all.

<<although back in his chair, grin from ear to ear stays>>

We have followed Microsoft's plan of attack when they released XP SP2 I think... They released RTM and then realised something wasnt right, and then released the final with a couple of bug fixes. It is classed as Stable :D

So consider this release the last one before it is declared completed ;)

Watch you dont break that chair

I have archived all the previous 061Beta posts, so any bug fixes etc will be pinned there... that is if there is any ;)

Have Fun!

Does anyone think we will beat the most online target of 535?

is there a listz with updated files?
that would be really great for updating

No there are not lists of updated files - there are many files updated... if you are upgrading from a previous version, follow the upgrade procedures.

Yep, I do.
And will the download counter also hit the roof?

As far as I can see the EtomiteLoginOut snippet still isn't included. Can you unarchive the posts relating to it, please, unless a new snippet is required. People are going to get burned by the changes in user login unless these are made obvious.

It would be helpful to have a list of changes ASAP too, especially where these chage user functionality rather than manager functionality. This would help avoid a repeat of the unpleasant surprises in RC3.

PS
I'm not going to even think about upgrading a live site until we have a complete list of functional changes.

Sure, you should be able to still access the archive (below the 061 bugtracker forum)... can you point me to which ones they are so i can split them off and then pin them.

Ta!

Lol - well if there is a sudden spike in downloads, it will not affect the etomite site - the downloads temporarily have their own dedicated server ;)

The most important thread is UserLoggedIn issues, but there may be other parts. (Its also covered in some snippet threads). However, I don't know whether this still works with RTM, as Ralph said in that thread there would be further changes.

As I've said in one of the snippet threads, the change this makes to user login will require a change to any site (pre RC3) that uses snippets that detect whether a user is logged in.

They may be wrong, if Ralph has made further changes, but something is going to be needed (unless Ralph has completely undone the login changes in RC3)

EtomiteLoginOut, the new logging snippet, is not included inthe RTM but may be in Final... I will be posting several new snippets that will require RTM as a minimum in the upcoming days... EtomiteLoginOut also includes Captcha Numbers which can be used through API calls in any snippet... B)

And, yes, (RTM != Final)... B)

So, just to be absolutely clear, people should continue to use the user login code at http://www.etomite.c...?showtopic=3791 and it will still work with RTM?

I would hope that some login snippet will be in Final, rather than each snippet author having to make their own code for logging users in.

There seems to be a small problem with the download page. All I get are "404 Error - File not Found" messages both with 0.6 and the 0.6.1 links.

Can somebody confirm this?

Yes, there seems to be a bug which Ralph is trying to resolve just now (as we speak)

No, its ok - Ralph's still looking into it... most of the etomite links are generating errors, so he's checking out why ;)
