Is it something to do with this issue or have i just got some other setting set wrong...?
This sounds like a basepath related issue rather than a site setting... The entire WYSIWYG integration will be completely rewritten for the next release, Cocoon, as mentioned previously in several forum threads...

Does the folder appear on subsequent openings of the image manager...???

No, the new folder won't be displayed when I re-open the image file browser.
On other Etomite websites of mine, it works, but I really can't figure out what's wrong here (since the folder created in the correct location when I check via FTP client).

Okay, I think I have narrowed the problem.

With IE 7, when opening the image file browser, one error is reported.

Line: 120
Char: 2
Error: Object required
Code: 0
URL: http://www.myhost.com/manager/media/fckedi...ourceslist.html

This is line 120 in the frmresourceslist.html file:
var sCurrentFolderPath	= oNode.attributes.getNamedItem('path').value;

So from what I understand the path is wrong. But why? I have re-installed FCK Editor like three times or so. I have tried to edit the path to the images in the config.php - no effect.

FCKeditor configuration is somewhat difficult, to say the least... Considering how the image browser is a plugin which has it's own configuration logic, this would take some research... The FCKeditor site has a good amount of documentation which might point you in the right direction.. I, personally, just don't have the time to invest into becoming an expert at every WYSIWYG plugin so feel free to become an expert at FCKeditor if you feel the urge...

Don't ask me why or how, but I just downloaded the latest FCKEditor build (v2.4) and patched it according to Pelleke's how-to and it's working now.

What's funny though (although not really important) is, that when I try to remove the upload form from FCK's file browser, the browser stops responding. For the unexeperienced users it might be confusing to have two upload options, although the FCK's is disabled yet displayed. In the end I just added a notice message in the file browser that the upload only works with Etomite's file manager.

Anyway, it's working now, my editors are happy and so am I. :)
