Frightening, that computer is sooooo like my first ever real computer. I can't remember if it was a COMPAQ or a SIRIUS. (COMPAQ, I believe.)

See, that's when laptops really did need a whole lap (and a friend's lap!).

My first PC was a Kaypro II... pretty similar. I wish I still had it!

thanks for showing me the link to the template, totally missed it.

Couple of questions after I've just installed it.

Got the base template up and running easy enough no problems.

But the template out of the box has no main "text" area, and no left nagivation bar that I assume is the menubuilder snippet (there are images to support this in the img dir)
How are you putting text in the horizontal bar across the top, I assume just hard coding it into the template,

How did you get the very cool looking floating navigation bar floating or partial over the main text navigation.

I'd love to see a look at the template/css configuration your using in your example page, or just get a little more feedback on how you've set this up.

thanks,

It sounds like you possibly don't know enough about Etomite templates to get it working. The downloadable template is literally exactly what I use on my demo page - it has not been changed.

Main text area (Content) is marked by [*content*]
Top menu bar uses the ListGlobal Snippet [[ListGlobal?LGlob_node=xx]]
Left navigation uses ListChildOrSibs [[ListChildOrSibs]]
Footer is hardcoded, but you could use any snippet there.

I did not use "MenuBuilder" for anything, but there's no reason you couldn't, you'd just have to re-configure them to use the css styles. It would be easier to stick with the snippets I use.

while I'm no Eto wizard, I certainly did see the point you've raised and I did "expect" it to work out of the box (which it pretty much has) but any content I put in using hte editor doesn't appear on the page - eg: I just get a blank page.

Let me try to put a post together that highlights this clearly.

thanks for the feedback

Found the problem, when I unzipped the file the html template had been corrupted and didn't actually show the full template it stopped at the <!--end top menu --> comment

hence why the rest was missing.

my fault.

Thanks

very pleased with it to say the least

I had to make 2 - 3 VERY minor changes to make it xhtml complient through the w3 validator.

I'll drop you a note with the changes in, always nice to have it pass the validator.

nice job.

Very nice template.

Though in IE6 on my setup, the Osbourne image comes up and then dissappears. In Firefox it works fine.

Best Regards, Lloyd.

nice job.

It actually validates already - except for the extra meta tags, which I added at the last minute and did not re-validate. jst make them lower-case and that should do it.

does this template work with the latest edition of etomite?
i tried to install it on my site, i dont get the images ,structure of the page to load.
first i noticed that the links inside the html source code reflect the folder ultra77 and not etoultra77 as the zip-archive created had.
as aresult i renamed the folder to ultra77 upload it,copied the html code to the template -manage resources in etomite cms,and this template wont work as the example above ,maybe ist this template not compatable with the latest release of etomite?

frequent,thanks for replying

Just check the paths and make sure they're correct (sounds like you have.) Also take not of any snippets I use in the template and make sure you have them. It'll work with any version of Etomite.

It sounds like you don't know too much about Etomite. You also have to actually apply the template to a document to view it.
