I've decided to try my hand at Etogal...

but I get a page of gibberish when I click on the download link. Where can I go to get the latest files?

Sorry about that - its not anything we've done!

I've attached it to this message for now

The EtogalThumb and EtogalSearch and EtogalList supporting snippets are all still in the snippets library (In fact Etogal still is at the moment too)

Dean's looking into the problem.

edit:
Attachment removed, as you should now be able to retrieve it from the downloads section, and a more recent release is available.

Ok, I don't know why it was working before, when in theory it shouldn't have anyway... a php file, you typically execute on a webserver, so instead of downloading the file, it was trying to execute it... by renaming the file to .phps, it shows the source of the file instead, allowing you to copy and paste the code, because it doesn't download it, it shows the physical code...

otherwise, nothing's changed on the server end... bizarre!

I have no idea why it's suddenly not working... it's beyond me I'm afraid Mike.... maybe you could ask across at Olate's forum to see if there is a particular reason why it would do it, when absolutely nothing has changed... i've been tempted to press the upgrade PHP button, but never actually done it.... tempting as it may be, I don't think I want to kill my PHP setup by upgrading to PHP 5

Don't think there's much point me asking ... they'll probably just give me a preformatted response asking for configuration details :betterwink:

If its going to do this sort of thing with light use, maybe we shouldn't use Olate!

Or you could just name the files with the extension .phps ?

well yes, but cut and paste really shouldn't be necessary, it should just allow you to download the file. I'd worry about whether it would do anything to character entities, line breaks, other character encodings ... something must be wrong for it to behave this way.

It does the same if you upload a new file too, so its not that the file has somehow changed.

I was unable to download etogal today. I see only a directory listing with one cgi-bin folder that's off-limits. I would love to try it out!

thanks,

s

[correction -- i searched lower in the forum and found the download links. but it's not so easy to figure this out...]

I've temporarily added a page at etogal.etomite.com to point back to the relevant post here that has the latest available files.

Eventually they'll get moved to etogal.etomite.com (unless plans change yet again!), but there are other things I need to sort out first.
