Hi folks,

I like your CMS very much, congratulations! I used to use TinyMCE as delivered with 0.6.1 final and I knew it already from Mambo/Joomla. For the File- and Image-Manager don't work, I decided to use Xinha, which I downloaded form etomite-sourceforge. (I took the bzip2-Version). xinha works quite fine by now, but as I'm from Germany I want to have the editor in German.

It works very well if I use "manager/media/xinha/examples/full_example.html". I can switch it to german and get the german translations. So I changed "mutate_content.dynamic.action.php" under "manager/actions/dynamic/" from _editor_lang = "en"; to _editor_lang="de".

But unfortunately that doesn't work! Xinha won't start anymore and firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051128 SUSE/1.5-0.1 Firefox/1.5) java console brings up:

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIXMLHttpRequest.send]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: http://.../manager/media/xinha/htmlarea.js :: anonymous :: line 6240" data: no]

I then tried "fr" for french which didn't work either. What could be wrong?

Has anybody successfully installed and used xinha in foreign language (not english)?

Server:
PHP Version 4.3.8
Apache/2.0.50 (Linux/SUSE)
MySQL Ver 4.0.21

Thanks for advice.

Greetings Ingo.

I think you can expect better help in the Xinha support forums, as they are more specialized in the matter. (http://xinha.python-hosting.com/)

Thanks for your quick reply.

I already searched through the xinha forum but I didn't really find anything useful. The thing is that the example is running in german so that's no real problem of the editor.

And as I read that many people switch to xinha because of the File- and Image-Manager-issue, I wonder if everybody is using it in english...!?

How about you, Jelmer, are you using it successfully in dutch for example?

Nope. I'm avoiding all translated stuff because it's never the same :) I'm using Xinha in English, just as I'm using Etomite, all my software, windows and Robert Ludlum thrillers in English...

Sorry, can't help you out.

I have been unable to duplicate this problem... I am able to switch between language files without problems... Let's get some information...

Is Etomite Prelude Final installed in your web root or in a subdirectory...???

Which web browsers are displaying this problem (IE, FF, Safari, Opera)...???

Have you attempted to clear your browsers cache, shut down your browser and re-opened...???

<generic_request>

Please supply us with additional information so we can better assist you in resolving this issue... The following information, complete with version/release will be of great help... If the issue is browser-specific also include browsers tested and the results of each...

Server Operating System
Server Software
PHP version
MySQL

</generic_request>

<<< Hint to Dean - manager/meadia/xinha/lang/ >>>

By the way, how can you switch between languages? I don't mean the etomite-backend-language. That works really fine. The whole backend is german. Except the xinha editor. And I did not find any configuration option where to switch the xinha language. So I did it manually in the file I mentioned in my first post.

Talking about that, I remember a fact which was in the "configuration-check" in the "home"-menu: When I choose "German" in languages in the configuration dialogue, the "configuration-check" tells me that the number of entries in the language-file is incorrect and that I need an update. That only happens when switched to german. Switching back to english, the configuration-check is fine.

I installed etomite in /srv/www/web6/html/ to which my url points correctly. So I think I installed it in my web root.

The problem occured in IE6 and Firefox 1.5 on windows and on Firefox 1.5 on linux. I didn't test other browsers.

Ja, did that. Even tried diffrent computers. Always the same behavior.

So, summarizing, where can I switch the xinha language or should it be automatically switched when I choose the backend-language?

I have a relatively fresh install of Etomite Prelude Final, complete with the Xinha add-on from the Etomite downloads section of SourceForge.. My Language file switches without problems... You might want to check to assure that the language files are, in fact, in the proper directory and that they are set to be readable... You are correct in that they are totally separate from the Etomite language files...

How exactly do you switch between these languages in xinha? Do I have to go to the etomite configuration or where do you switch it?

I manually edited my manager/actions/dynamic/mutate_content.dynamic.action.php file and changed:

// _editor_lang = "en";
_editor_lang = "de";

Ok, it works now. The problem was due to userfriendly urls and an inpropper configuration of the .htaccess-file in the manager-dir. :)

I used to turn on the userfriendly url-feature and successfully renamed the ht.access in the root dir to .htaccess. Renaming the one in the manager-dir caused an internal 500 server error. So I didn't rename it and everything worked find.

Ja, you know that not everything worked fine. So by now I renamed the ht.access in the manager-dir to .htaccess having only

RewriteEngine Off

in it. Now I can switch to german and it works like a charm. Thanks to everybody helping out.
