The ability to limit the number of images shown on a page. When the limit is reached, a paging list be visible. Example:
First Previous 1 2 3 4 Next Last
If this is already possible, I don't see it so apologies if that's the case.

Its not there at the moment. It was asked for once, I think, before I more or less took over maintenance from Frank, but no-one offered to code it. It is on my list of things that EtoGal is missing but my aim on the current round of updates was to harmonise the various snippets as much as possible, fix known bugs, and improve their cooperation. (I was also aiming to replace the EtoGalThumb and EtoGalGallery 'styles' with versions that used external CSS classes rather than embebedded CSS, but thats going to have to wait - I need to learn more about CSS first.)
Which snippet did you want this in? (I have no plans to add any further display functionality to EtoGal itself, only to extend EtoGalThumb, EtoGalGallery and EtoGalList as appropriate to meet new needs, or if essential add another to the family. EtoGal works as a simple introduction, but adding more display modes will only make it harder to maintain.)
If adding it to EtoGalThumb would meet your needs, I'll think about it. Conceptually its a fairly simple addition; in practice what sort of size gallery are you looking at?

I'm only currently using the etogal snippet as it pretty much does what the client currently has, except the paging. There are in excess of 100 images, so as you can imagine, a single page of images is going to get very long indeed.
If the EtoThumb or whatever other snippet had the functionality, that's what we'd use.

Can you give me a link to a current page to see what's wanted (PM if necessary) then I'll have a look tomorrow and let you know. (I want to see how the thumbnail navigation and large images interact, before saying what I can do - its easier to look at it than read a description)
100 or so is manageable - if you had 10,000 or so it would need more thought for an efficient solution!

No worries, I'll drop you a PM as it's a client site that isn't yet public. (Just don't point at me for the design -- it's their own design and I take no blame for it!

in progress - a prototype (using EtoGalGallery for the display) is at http://www.efikim.co.uk/etogal/EGGXpaged1.html and http://www.efikim.co.uk/etogal/EGGXPaged2.html , allowing either thumbs and large image to be shown (where the page of thumbs shown includes the one for the large image if you navigate using the large image), or alternating between large image and thumbnails like the basic EtoGal presentation does.

I am looking forward to see this incorporated in the snippet, Mike!

It will be a while before its fully integrated, and that will only be with EtoGalGallery and EtoGalThumb. Its one thing to produce a prototype and quite another to ensure thaat it works in all cases, while still allowing the software to function when not in pages mode. (the prototype won't work correctly if you don't want paging.)
Once its working for xrepins I'll release it as an 'experimental' version in parallel with the 'official' Etogal suite, for those taht specifically want paging, but only in EtoGalGallery.

I thought I'd released the 'experimental' version with paging, but can't find it here now. If anyone is still waiting for it, sorry!
While its still not as cleanly coded as I'd like, i have a usable version (see any of the artists galleries in www.roguegenecollective.com or www.art4cheshire.org.uk or www.art4essex.org.uk ! ). If there's a demand for it I'll add it to the files topic.
