I have quite opposite question to "Save n'Launch" topic.

How to do such thing, when I push the button Save (either while using RTE editor or not), my "screen" will stay in editor (RTE/notRTE) and do not escape to preview?
Constantly pressing Save, then Edit... could be more easy.

I agree that there should be an option to continue editing after a mid-edit save and future releases will have this capability... :eto:

My legal department is investigating your topic title :) Why not get 3 buttons instead of the current ones:
Save & Exit
Save & Stay
Preview (stores current setup in temp file, displays that in new window).

Denise.

I think the save and launch is a great idea.

As this appears to be turning into a wish list I have a similar request for the php snippets and templates, when I am writing/customising or installing them I often want to save and not loose my place in the code. (I switch to another window to check it with a refresh.) Perhaps a 'save and launch preview and save your place in the code' button as well.

So as you see Ralph people need more "Save ..." buttons.

My next proposal is adding two additional buttons:
[Save Time] and [Save Money], I hope they will work well :)

Why not combine those 2? I think we're really on to something here. This could be big.

After much code wrangling and added frustrations brought about by the existing code I made an executive decision last night that I will not be making any additional additions to the Etomite Final code base... It just doesn't make any sense for me to keep struggling with inherited code that goes against my programming ideals... I can write new code from scratch in less time than I can "maintain" the existing code... Alex, the original author of the code, was learning as he went and in doing so never went back and cleaned up existing code unless he happened to be in the neighborhood... Don't get me wrong, Alex did a great job in creating Etomite and I continue to be thankful that he had the faith in Dean and myself to hand over stewardship of the Etomite project to us - but the project is evolving... I even look back at my own old code and shudder sometimes... I went through and cleaned up the original code a bit in the Prelude code branch but there is just too much more that needs to be done and it just isn't worth the effort... The code works, as-is, and every attempt at improvement invites new bugs that take too long to track and correct... If there is to be a next release before the end of this year I have to focus on that code and not on continually tweaking the existing code...

NUFF SAID... :eto:

That I can understand. Isn't it time to setup some kind of group elaboration site where more people can participate in rewriting the entire code? I don't know if such a thing can be split up, but once the engine is running smoothly future modifications should be a breeze. Until that group effort exists (if it's even possible), I can understand your standpoint.

@ Ralph

That makes a lot of sense.

To link it with onother thread, does this executive decision mean that you won't be providing a fully patched download of of 0.6.1 Final (as you mentioned on the Announcement forum)?

If it's coming I'll wait for it, if not it would be useful to know that there's no reason waiting before attempting to upgrade.

Yes, I will be posting one last patched release of Etomite Prelude Final in the near future... I had intended on having it done by now but work has been crazy for some odd reason... Not that I'm complaining... B)

The development team is pretty much in place and several of us are already working on the code... This will not be a totally open project so folks will just have to wait to see what we come up with before making comments... Trust me, we have many years of experience between us (well over 100 years is a rough estimate), so we know what people are looking for and what we want to offer... Those on the dev team who haven't yet been contacted will be contacted soon... We are making some preliminary guidelines prior to assigning tasks... :eto:

It's good to know it's being reworked :)
