Just installed Etomite, and am happy with its ease (of use) and power! However, the site I am switching over makes extensive use of Definition Lists, and tinyMCE deletes them. I paste my code into the HTML popup, hit update, and all my text is there, and most HTML tags survive, but the <DL><DT> and <DD> tags are gone, which basically leaves my text unformatted.

Anyone else notice this, and is there a fix? And why is tinyMCE so-named, when it takes a HUGE chunk of the disk space? Maybe the techies could look into using Whizzywig, a very small but effecient editor that produces valid XHTML and CSS...

A quick fix is to disable the editor.
There may be ways to configure TinyMCE to accept the additional tags you want (search the forum; this behaviour of the editors has been mentioned before). I don't use TinyMCE so don't know what would need to be done.

The name TinyMCE may have fit way back when the editor was first created... However, now that the editor comes with so many plug-in's in the basic download the name no longer fits...

Either Xinha, based on the original HTMLArea editor, or FCKeditor might be better options as far as WYSIWYG editors is concerned... They, too, have become blated in size over the years due to plug-in's, as well... Both editors are provided in the downloads section and should be "Plug-n-Play" integrations...

I am unaware of any <dl> issues with any of the editors, but definition lists are relatively unused by most developers which may be why TinyMCE doesn't support them by default...

Thanks for the replies, I did disable the editor, which is fine for me, but one of the main reasons for switching to Etomite was to allow others to maintain pages, and they will likely need a WYSIWYG interface.

I was quite happy that the installation went without a hitch, and I ported most of my pages over last night, even getting the navigation to match what I had before, thanks to the forums and snippets. I am fairly new to PHP, but have years in with Perl, which isn't too different.

I have read about and tested some of the other CMS programs out there, but most are like TinyMCE: bloated. Looks like Etomite will do what I need, without all the other baggage. :)

I will look into adapting Whizzywig to work with Etomite, and post if successful.

Is it just me, or does Whizzywig look very similar to RTE

Don't they all look about the same?
I did not compare the code, so I don't know about that.

RTE is $50 (uncompressed), Whizzywig is free, which makes it look better to me...

But RTE has already been integrated into the next version ;)

Well, that sounds good! I'm sure it's posted here somewhere, but what's the schedule on that?
