menubuilder Snippet Converted to use Eric Meyer's css menus

I'm looking at the menubuilder snippet.
I'm attempting to re-configure it to use Eric Meyer's css menu styles for example from this link.
http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/vertical09.htm
The look of the menu seems easy to change as its simpley a css style sheet for the navigation. However what does become more tricky, more so when you look at Eric's example css is that the menu is made up of list items - so the menu builder would have to generate the menu in a <li> rather than just breaks.
I'd be interested in discussing the following points.
1.) Is changing menu builder to use list items viable or will this have bigger effects on etomite that are not obvious.
2.) Is this the only change that would need to be made (in theory/my head) yes it is as the css style should pickup the rest once its in list items
3.) Does anyone have experience in this sort of thing and could give me a breif introduction on how to go about this, as I can see how the menubuilder snippet generates links with breaks, but changing that to list items seems a little more complex
4.) has this been done before ?
5.) If so - who/where
6.) and this is a biggy - could we make a menubuildlist snippet that could be used instead of menubuilder at the users choice (at design time) as having the menu in list format opens doors to all the menus on
http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/
http://e-lusion.com/design/menu/
7.) is menu builder the right snippet to use as a base starting point or is there a better option.
I imagine this is simple for someone who is reasonable with php - I'm not so be gentle with me.
Thanks for the input.

Alternatively, gimme a shout when you are next online, as I may have something better (easier to understand) for you to try.

I'm trying to work out exactly what you're trying to achieve there - if it's a plain List Menu, then have you tried the ListMenu snippet?
Alternatively, gimme a shout when you are next online, as I may have something better (easier to understand) for you to try.
To summerise, I was trying to replace the menu generated from the "menubuilder" snippet with the menu example in http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/vertical09.htm
I've not checked listmenu snippet - I'll take a look at this now, as you well know, web development is not my bag, so I need tips like this.
I'll have my online presences back on Thursday or Friday depending on what time I'm back and you can give me a lesson.
thanks for the response.
EDIT: Actually I'll add to this and clarify the rest of the post.
I wanted to alter the menubuilder (although ListMenu looks like it may be a better starting point) so that it generates the menu in a list format then the menu's visual appearence is defined by a css link opening the door to easy customisation as listed in the example urls

Check out the menu builder used in the mollio templates. It uses a list as well. Lloyd must have (re)written a snippet to do just that.
The mollio templates are part of the eto 6.1 install arn't they - so they must use the menubuilder snippet from the install, or am I getting template names wrong.

I've got some work that n-vent did for me and he's used the listmenu snippet and customised the look of it. The snippet is unaltered so I guess he's customised the look from the div properties from within the style sheets.
I'll have to take a look at how this works.
I've also now got the snippet menu dean was suggesting that I'll be looking at tonight.

The mollio template uses the MollioMainMenu which is "based on elements from the ListSiteMap and ListMenu snippets".The mollio templates are part of the eto 6.1 install arn't they - so they must use the menubuilder snippet from the install, or am I getting template names wrong.
