Search for and get the ShowDoc snippet. Use it to display the contents of another document in the third column. Place the extra document in the repository so that it won't show up in any menus.

Seems like there should be no problem at all. If you have a static third column in your template, you can simply create a chunk (in prder to be able to change it in future without modifying template) and include this chunk in your template.. If it is dynamic then your should use snippets, depending on what content you want there..
