Hi there, sorry for this newbie problem, but I can't upload any pictures.
Everytime this error occurs:

« Error »Etomite encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:
« PHP Parse Error »
PHP error debug
Error: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Unable to access assets/galleries/57/ (assets/galleries/57)

the galleries directory is created and CHMOD 777
I have the same installation running on my local PC (using XAMPP) -> works fine here

Any ideas?

This looks like a problem that was found ages ago with some server configuration, and discussed in the original (long and rambling) etogal support thread.

The solution was to create the subdirectory that EtoGal requires for each gallery manually using ftp, and then change its access permissions to allow read and write to all. (each gallery needs a subdirectory off the etogal directory, the name being the same as the page id (number) of the page its created on.)

Can you try this and see if it fixes your problem.

Yeah, fixes the problem. Thanks a lot!

Do you know if there's a fix for the server? Because not every editor has ftp-access...

We didn't investigate further, as the fix was sufficient for the only other person to hit the problem.

I wouldn't know where to start tring to sort this problem out; there are so many different things involved in hosting companies attempts at setting up safe mode. I'm not the person to do it either - Ralph might have more idea if he pops in here; I haven't a clue, sorry!

I had a similar issue and although galleries may be there if they were created by etomite (when you try to upload the pictures) if your php server is running safe mode, you might not have access to them. Have you tried uploading your galleries/57 using ftp? (delete existing gallery 57 first). CHMOD 777 then upload pictures using etogal. The installation guide takes you through this but I spend 2 hours trying to get it working not realising what I had done because if you don't create the gallery folder first, the one created for you looks identical but dosn't work.

Remember...

http://www.etomite.com/index.php?showtopic=4681

I add new galleries this way:
1) make new document in etomite (for example with id 10), insert the snippet [ [etogal]]
2) create new directory in ftp client with the same name as id of my document (in this case 10)
3) set chmod 777 for this directory in ftp client
4) upload new images using etogal snippet

Thanks Cris

I thought I'd copied the information from the old thread over to this Etogal section, but couldn't find it! I rarely read my own documentation!
