Hi all

When I create folders or docs in backend, some I can call as /folder or /doc, but not all, I find if I delete it and recreate it then it sometimes happens to allow me to display it as /fodler and /doc is this an error in the backend ??

As Alex pointed out to me the other day, in Bug-Tracker, when a folder is empty it may be converted to document status... There really is no difference between documents and folders, other than a folder is merely a document with children... And adding a document as a child of a document should cause the parent document to become a folder... Try it out and see if that is what is happening in your case... B)

What I had done was made a folder named About
Then added 2 docs, Vision and Overview

I can call the About folder as alias about on site, but the docs (children) dont want to be called as thier alias /overview and /vision

This seems to happen alot ever since I made a few fodlers, is there a way to call the docs from a fodler as thier alias?

sitename.com/doc
or should it be
sitename/fodlername/doc

Either way its not working for alias of cods in fodlers, sometimes I cannot get folders to work as alis, some do, is this a bug ??

Folders and document are exactly the same, except (as Rad pointed out) that folders have document under them.

If you have a document, or a folder - which is published, and which isn't deleted - which has a valid alias, you can access it using the alias.

If you have a document called `home`, but you also have an actual physical directory or file on your site called `home`, the physical file or directory will win.

Etomite does not support multilevel aliases, so it's never:
site.com/foldername/docname

but always:
site.com/docname

;)

Ya I attempted teh foldername/doc, and it got wierd hahaha

I have added to docs under an About folder with the alias vision and overview.

When I try to access these sitename/overview or /vision I get error page, but this also happens with several folders and document other then ones mentioned.

Im not sure if its a bug but they just dont want to appear as the alias.

I can give admin info if need be and all fodlers and cos are published.

Just cant figure out why they wont accept the alias
