Hey,

Just a quick question... I am attempting to bend the rules a little with the EtoGal Snippet.

I am basically attempting to create two types of galleries. One with large thumbnails, and ones with much much smaller thumbnails.

I have already tried to alter this by creating two different EtoGal snippets (EtoGal, EtoGal2) and set the thumb preferences in each, in the 'Set Parameters' area.

I have have called to each of these correctly in the template. My problem now, is that I seem to have everything sorted that I need to have sorted in EtoGal2, but all the changes that I have made seem to be overwriting the Original EtoGal snippet... Gah.

It is there, and I don't see why the new etogal snippet I have created is overwriting the other...

If anyone has any possible solution for me, I would be enormously appreicative.

Thanks!

The etoThumbs has the ability to call pictures from an etogal table and allows you to set the size using ?resize=200 or similar snippet call.

It will set the long side of the thumb to a set pixel number.

You really don't need 2 etogal tables as there are enough snippets that allow you to pull ANY combination of pictures from ANY combination of galleries and present them in any method you require.

You can also use etogal_multigals3 on the same page as etogal.

What do you mean by 'one snippet is overwriting the other'?

In any case, there is no need to edit the EtoGal snippet and create two copies. If you read the documentation for the Etogal snippet, you'll see that one of the parameters that you can pass to the snippet when you call it from a page is max_thumb_size which should control the size of the thumbnail created when the images are uploaded. (Note that this only has an effect when images are being uploaded. If you change the parameter, the snippet does not go back and reedit existing thumbnails).

If you want greater control of the display of the contents of the gallery, rather than how it is stored, as CrisD says there are a number of snippets that use the etogal gallery contents and offer very flexible control of display, both in this section and those by CrisD in the main snippet library.

Where abouts may I find this 'etoThumbs'? If I could use a call to alter the size of thumbnails, that would just make my day. Thanks for all your help fellas!

1st of all, don't forget that you can still call to pictures uploaded by etogal by using the standard...
<img src="assets/galleries/20/tn_pic.jpg" height="xx" width="xx"> tag.
If you want it more automated and include random images with automatic styling etc...
etogalThumbs is in the eto add-ons/ etoGal section of this forum.

Here...

Yeah automated is a much better route for my circumstance. I have many images... hehe.

Just a question about the snippet... does this work inconjunction with my current EtoGalGallery snippet? Or does it replace it? Or both?

Thanks for your help buddy.

If you are using EtogalGallery, please read the EtoGalGallery documentation! The thumbnails displayed can be controlled in almost exactly the same way as with EtoGalThumbs.

Please provide a link to your site, so we can see what you are actually using.
