For some reason my image files are not being served properly. I didn't notice until i started reviewing an (almost) done site in ie6.5 to work out some css stuff.
i've uploaded them with dreamweaver, filezilla, (settings set to binary) and with the eto file manager. looked at another installation it has the same issue with all images, however it's only noticable on png's in ie 6.5 and below.

any ideas? my database?

update... thought it was just in eto, but it's not.... even outside the eto installation i have the same error. guess i'l poke around my control panel and see if there's a setting somewhere i can change :(

thought they did... but they don't

nothing to change in my control panel, anyway since it's on multiple sites it's not an issue specific to this server...

There are limitations on png support in IE

I can't remember the details, because I decided it was just too much trouble to deal with, and so don't use pngs

i use a js file that allows older versions of ie to correctly render pngs. google 'pngfix'
the issue is also with jpgs, but only noticable with a transparent png.

if the image is on a plain html page outside of eto, everythings fine. if the image is seen in a browser, as in url/image.png, i get the error.

So am I correct in thinking that you're experiencing the issue when using eto or not?

I vaguely recall something like Mike said, but can't put my finger on it..

The pngfix routines don't always work as well as expected, or so I have read... Can you display non-png images without issues...???

Well, i'm trying to focus on what the issue is, but i can get these banners to be transparent on a plain html page, but not within etomite. still working on it, just thought maybe someone here ran into the issue already.

yes,

and png's work properly in my own install of eto with the js fix, as well i can get the same banner to look just fine on a plain jane html page at the problem domain. it seems to be within this specific install?

I've tried everything I can think, doc types, changing to a new template.

Any chance that the problem might be related to either template related stuff like DOCTYPE, character encoding, stylesheet issues, etc... Or, to put it another way, does it work if you duplicate an Etomite-rendered page as a stand-alone HTML page...??? Process of elimination...

If you can view it outside a browser but not inside a site page, that points me to think it is an issue with MIME type possibly inherited from the DTD. Perhaps make it explicit: type="image/png".

Started working on it on another machine, in the process re-uploaded each image and the js file- which i think was the culprit. All works now, but I can't really say what fixed it. totally buggy.
