I have been trawling the net to look for an upload progress bar to show how much of an uploaded file has been transferred and left to go...

I have found several, however they are either unreliable, do not work or require additional PHP modules and heaps of code. The best one I found is this one:http://www.johnboy.c...-progress-meter, however it requires APC (Alternative Php Cache) to be installed- something I (and I'm assuming the majority of users) can't do with their host.
http://www.raditha.com/php/upload.php- doesn't work.
http://www.sibsoft.n...pload.html#demo -Gave this a good bash, couldn't get it to work.
http://www.ibm.com/d...v525/index.html-Needs APC
http://t.wits.sg/200...d-progress-bar/ gets around APC but needs uploadProgress installed under PECL!!

Any other options that others are aware of or use with their etomite site? I'd prefer no flash, but at this stage, will look at all options.

I've got one bookmarked somewhere that I used once before... let me go dig it out.

Hi Cris,

Good list by the way.

I have not got any suggestions but just wanted to say that I have nearly given up with uploads and downloads. For instance I have a site that downloads mp3 tracks. The download system (as far as I can reasonably test) works fine, but anyone that has tried it from european countries runs into problems, which for the life of me I cannot replicate.

I tried to get the artists to be able to upload their own mp3's, but although it worked fine for me (with reasonable testing), again no one outside the uk could use it without trouble. I have no idea what is up, no clue where to start and in all honesty, the open source system I am using is too complicated for me to follow for debugging.

I am not asking for help with these problems, just sharing that I have had terrible trouble with uploads and downloads, so much so that the site is now almost abandoned.

Hope you have more success!

Paul.
