I was making some comtent changes to site, logged out, went to log back in again because I suddenly noticed a typo (Don't you always see them AFTER you think you've finished!!) and was presented with the following:-

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/DOMAIN/web/tmp/necpluscouk_nec_mgr/sess_333945585cbec2c1186e07aec79907e7, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/DOMAIN/web/manager/includes/config.inc.php on line 158

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/|DOMAIN/web/manager/includes/config.inc.php:158) in /content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/DOMAIN/web/manager/includes/config.inc.php on line 158

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/DOMAIN/web/tmp/necpluscouk_nec_mgr/sess_333945585cbec2c1186e07aec79907e7, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/DOMAIN/web/manager/includes/config.inc.php on line 158

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/DOMAIN/web/manager/includes/config.inc.php:158) in /content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/DOMAIN/web/manager/includes/config.inc.php on line 158

Also have:-

Warning: Unknown(): open(/content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/DOMAIN/web/tmp/necpluscouk_nec_mgr/sess_333945585cbec2c1186e07aec79907e7, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Unknown(): Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/DOMAIN/web/tmp/necpluscouk_nec_mgr) in Unknown on line 0

The config.inc.php file is set for use custom sessions (true) and the sessdir is set to

/content/StartupHostPlus/n/e/DOMAIN/web/tmp

Anyone got any ideas on what I need to look at? - I have tried changing permissions on the tmp folder but it doesn't make any difference.

Thanks chaps and chapesses!!

Have you adjusted the permissions for the custom session directory...??? When using custom sessions Etomite will also attempt to create two additional subdirectories, one for the parser and one for the manager...

Hi Ralph

Yes - tried all combinations from 0777 down but it didn't help. I'm sure you noticed, but as I said before all I did was make a small change to content. After I logged out, I went to log in again and the problem revealed itself. The installation had been working perfectly for two weeks until I suddenly hit this problem.

OK - in the absence of any further info, I thought - delete all and reinstall. So I deleted all tables and all files, reinstalled all the code and ran a full install. Problem solved - I can now log in to the Manager.

BUT - now I get an error on every page telling me :-

Etomite encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:« Row count error in template query result. » SQL: SELECT * FROM `necpluscouk`.ne_site_templates WHERE `necpluscouk`.ne_site_templates.id = '';
Parser timing MySQL: 0.0087 s s(2 Requests) PHP: 0.0115 s s Total: 0.0202 s s
Now what? I am utterly impressed with Etomite when it's working but it's proving to be a bit naughty when things go wrong.

That looks like you havn't saved the manager settings for the first time (again) to me.

Notice the template id="" means that no template has been applied to the site yet- this happens on the first config save after installation.

The last two users who had issues the same as you worked out it was a poor upload or a poor download extraction that corrupted files that consequentaly didn't work as expected. By re-upl;oading everything, you may have solved a corrupt upload, if you stil have problems after saving your config settings, it may well be a corrupt extraction of your source files.

Ditto what Cris D said about saving the configuration settings...

Several members have had issues with the zip download but have had no problems with the tar.gz download, so if you contine to have issues, that might be something else to try...
