Well, I've just checked the IPB Admin Panel and it says we have 42,077 posts...

Also, I was alerted this morning at 08:30GMT about a lot of bounced messages (sent via Push e-Mail to my mobile) and found that a newly signed up user was sending a hell of a lot of PM's. The user was going through the member list and sending the same PM to every user (I think they got about 30 PM's sent before I banned their ass).

What I've done now is implement a pre-member permission set that means you've got to verify yourself and hit a certain post count before you can e-Mail and PM from the board. It also won't let you do other things on the board (like view the member list).

Existing members are already cleared permission wise - the above changes will only affect new members.

There appears to be a new recent wave of attacks against many of the more popular forum softwares... All three forums that I regularly visit have been hit and two of those were down for multiple days... And of those three, the only one I have admin permissions is Etomite and it was down for the shortest amount of time - thanks to Dean...

Nope... One of the other forums I belong to recently had a member who was annoying everyone... He was either posting totally off-topic, posting incorrect and even dangerous information, and not backing down when warned by moderators... I did some research and found that he has a very prolific history of this kind of behavior in many many forums... And that is just with a single username... Same username, real name, and home location every time... Must be a mental condition...

And that's not even hitting on the subject of spamming...
