There doesn't seem to be a new posts link any more

I'm not sure what 'view new content' is doing, but it isn't showing the new posts since last visit, its missing some.

Recently added topics may do this but doesn't indicate read and unread, and may not show all since last visit if the number is large. (not that the forum is very busy current.)

Also absent are the bug tracker and documentation.

PS
- also, 'downloads' doesn't include the etomite and editor downloads
- recently added topics isn't a replacement for new posts - its only for new posts and shows the date/time of the initial topic creation, not the latest post, so there's no way I can see to quickly check for new posts

LOL, that has been annoying me too.

48,000 items in new content! And then not my recent posts!

I put it down to teething troubles. Am starting to like the new layout though, although I think it is just a default install at the moment.

Paul.

(I can't seem to find the 'show my last 10 posts' either, which I always found really handy. It is probably there somewhere though.)

It's doubtful that Dean is finished with the upgrade and configuration... It may take some time as this is a major release upgrade... I've seen this with both IPB and phpBB...

New posts since before the upgrade will be a bit hit and miss, but I've just clicked View New Content, then click Posts and it's showed me new posts since my last login. Downloads should have read Snippets (which it does now). You can check your latest posts you've made by clicking your name then clicking the posts tab that comes up.

It's a MAJOR update - There's still a lot I've got to do :-)

No offense intended to Dean for his hard work, but I agree with all complaints above.

Regarding the sudden loss of Etomized sites and the sudden change to the default template of some piece of forum software, Etomite will never gain widespread acceptance with this goofy kind of thing going on every so often like it does. It's very un-professional, and makes the whole operation seem very fly-by-night, like it's being run by high-school kids.

Feel free to take it up with IPB, the makers of the forum software. I have to keep things up to date as I don't want things being exploited.

<im crabby with this heat>

When it comes to the forum software, I'm at the mercy of IPB; With a big version change like this then they've changed a hell of a lot of stuff - they've even completely changed the templating again... it means me re-learning parts (and all I did was hack away at it last time.

The Etomized-Sites was a third-party hack that during the upgrade just plain broke.. they released a new version but whenever I tried to use it with our data, it just plainly didn't want to work and threw db errors :(

Yeah, well it's been taken.

I don't have an issue with the software - just the sudden loss of the home page and the visual change to something that isn't Etomite.

Great work on the upgrade though! Gotta keep those exploitable bugs at bay.

The home page is still there - ahhhh I see where its going wrong! I've not put the link back to the main site back up yet..

Etomite.org is the main homepage
Etomite.com are the forums (etomite.community)

On one day, IPS released the new versions of IP.Board, IP.Blog and IP.Downloads (which we use all of) - a lot of changes.

Does anyone else find it slow at the moment? I'm not sure if it's my internet connection..

The new board has some great possibilities! Have to get used to the look and feel, but that's a matter of days. I hope we can back our Eto look within a few weeks, as stated before. If there's something a lament can do, let me know!

I don't see a 'Posts' link to click (Firefox 3.11 in case its relevant). The nearest is a forums tab that lists 'new' topics by descending order of creation of topics, not of latest post, and so of little help.

I still can't see a way to download etomite itself from the forum ... maybe it always was from the home page only, but just looked to be part of the forum becuase the styling was similar ... in which case ignore me.

Sorry, I meant forums - I'll have to dig, it may be a simple setting. I'm sure it showed new posts, but maybe it was threads... I think the whole IPB has switched towards threads (pm's included, more like conversations iirc).
The link for downloads was never there, so I've added one next to Documentation :-)

Just goes to show ... once you know how to get to something its automatic - change the appearance and then you (or at least I) struggle.

I'm now really puzzled about this new topics thing - I created a second account and get a very different result:

First, the view I get when clicking the forums tab when logged in as mikef (attachment mikef_newcontent.gif)
Attached File  mikef_newcontent.gif (14.72K)
Number of downloads: 4
Second, the view I get when clicking the forums tab when logged in as efikim (attachment efikim_newcontent.gif)
Attached File  efikim_newcontent.gif (15.82K)
Number of downloads: 4

(ignore the colour changes - these are the result of using a different browser (firefox and chrome) and then compressing to a 16 colour gif to conserve space)

the first gives me just a list of new topics by creation date
the second gives me a list of new posts by creation date (which is what I wanted!)
