It displays the active content from the last 24hs with me. I found the "new content" button to suit my needs perfectly!

Can you tell me what this link does that I found near the bottom of the homepage does? And if it works for you?
It returns a set of what it says is the active content in the last 24 hours currently:

while on my additional test account, on Chrome rather than Firefox 3.0, I get a different more 'up to date' list (clearly in a different time zone, sorry!) beginning:

In other words not a consistent story ...

(edit: corrected old Firefox version number)

I've updated to firefox 3.5 and still have the same discrepancies :(

edit:
its not a browser issue, since using chrome with my normal account has the same (incorrect) result as with Firefox.

yet another oddity ... new posts don't appear in the 'latest discussions' box (because they aren't discussions until someone replies?) but do appear in the 'Today's active content' page. 'View new content' is still misbehaving for me, to the point that its useless for me (latest post shown today (13th July) is from the 10th July) :(

I really don't understand why it's doing it, and only doing it for you :-/
When I click the view new content button, I see all the new content i havent read or replied to...

I haven't forgotton about this issue - I was hoping maybe this is a known bug that the next release would fix (which i read was coming soon).

Thanks Dean ... I hadn't thought you'd forgotten it, just noticed another oddity and thought it worth reporting for completeness, especially as it may mean new topics are more likely to be missed than they used to be.

Upgraded to 3.0.1

edit: ooooh I see an improvement myself - before when I read a topic, it automatically removed it from my list instead of de-bolding it. whereas now, it's de-bolded.

Major Changes Since 3.0.0

Among many dozens of smaller bugs fixed, the following large changes and fixes have been made in 3.0.1 release:

* View new content changes so its more like 2.3.6 where it's based off last visit. Option to use the 3.0 style in user settings.
* Option to view search results in a view similar to a forum.
* More filter and sort options with search
* Optimized search and view new content to improve performance
* Sessions not clearing in some PHP versions fixed. Will improve performance on those versions.
* Language import / export system is much more stable now.
* Slow queries in the Portal have been optimized.
* Many Facebook Connect issues have been addressed.
* PM counts being incorrect have been fixed.
* Old media tag and quote tag issues impacting display of older posts fixed.
* Watched content hook in sidebar resource usage addressed.

Important: We have received reports of IP.Board 3.0.1 not working correctly on servers running PHP version 5.3. Please do not upgrade to IP.Board 3 if your host runs PHP 5.3. We are working on a fix for this issue and should have it in place for 3.0.2 release.
That PHP 5.3 thing is the same with Eto ;-) It's the same issue!

same setting for me ... its up to date now, but only shows your one post since restarting!

I'll keep an eye on it and hopefully it will all be now fixed.

as for the PHP 5.3 issue, in my opinion its clearly a serious bug in PHP 5.3 error management - adding a new error code that is merely 'deprecated' should not break existing code!
