After inserting my own CAPTCHA Words in -->configuration -->UserSettings i have some trouble with my logins.
Now often i got the message captcha would be incorrect and after four failed entries i was blocked.
After a manual reset im my database i have disabled captcha now.

Is there a known reason for this behavior?

The main limitation is that you cannot have white space between the words, just comma's...

Examples:

Good: one,two,three,four,five
Bad: one,two, three,four ,five

As I recall, you "should" be able to include white space within the CAPTCHA words, however...

Example: tRicky wOrd,GooFy_pHrase,Cr@2y:old+dog

Hope this helped answer your question...

I had no spaces too:

Quote

Schnurzz,Schnarpen,Eialaweia,Baluu,Wombat,Kiwii,Banana,Apfelsane,Appelsine,Rotwohl,Heisswein,Reismein

But it doesn't go.

That list is definitely shorter than the 255 character maximum for that data column... Have you tried doing a Clear Cache from the Main Menu just to see if that helps, although it should be done automatically every time the configuration settings are saved...??? Also, having multiple CAPTCHA's on a single page can potentially cause problems because the word stored in the session will be that of the last CAPTCHA rendered by the parser...

On the topic of captcha codes, I have been meaning to do this somehow sometime (when my massive list of never ending tasks finally fits onto at least one page of A4), recaptcha, (perhaps I should put this on the wish list).

Paul.

Sometimes when I do testing in several different browsers and / windows while changing settings like this the different sessions can become confused. Does the problem still exist after closing the browser down and re-opening it and trying to log in again from a fresh session? Of course, there's always the CAPS LOCK that may be on.

If that does not fix it, this may be a long shot but is it possible that it may come down to character encoding?

I had also considered character encoding issues...

Tomorrow morning its running.

@ Chris D.
a. There were several different browsers (IE and Firefox ) coevally open and in FF some more Tabs, in which i logged in Etomite for testing or was looking for the result.
Maybe that was the reason.
b. Caps LOCK that may be on: That was not the reason, because i could see the written captcha in the input-Tag. And at second and third failed logon i double controlled my input. :-)

@ Ralph
What is meant with "multiple CAPTCHA's on a single"? At least on the ready Webpage or Contentpage?
Next i will try to clear Cache at first, to find out if thats the reason.

Many thanks for this usefull hints.

[Attached:] Ahhh....
Clearing Cache doesn't help.
By opening a second tab (here in IE-modus) in FF seems to be one of the reasons.
After closing all sessions and a new login it was running either in IE-modus or normal in FF.
