Hi,

I'm trying to install a fresh copy of Etomite 1.1 and I'm getting the following error after entering the database settings. I cannot continue from this point. Please advise.

Here's my info:
Server: Apache 2.0.51
PHP Version: 4.3.11
MySQL: MySQL 3.23.58-log / phpMyAdmin 2.6.3-pl1
Host Control Panel: Plesk 7.5.4
Browser: Firefox 3.0.11
OS: Vista

Here's the error:

Etomite setup will now attempt to setup the databaseCreating connection to the database: OK!

Selecting database `etomite`: OK!

Checking table prefix `etomite_`: OK!

Importing default site: Failed! - Installation failed!

Etomite setup couldn't install the default site into the selected database. The last error to occur was Table 'etomite.etomite_site_templates' doesn't exist during the execution of SQL statement INSERT INTO `etomite_site_templates` VALUES(2, 'Blank', 'Used to display unformatted pages, or pages that render their own markup, like Google XML site map', '[*content*]rn', 0)

Most Windows based servers won't create the database automatically so you will probably need to make it manually using phpMyAdmin or whatever MySQL manager Plesk has...

The other possibility is that you aren't actually connecting to the database, which is a common ocurrance on shared hosts, due to domain specific prefixes...

Just a quick check ... is MySQL 3.23 suitable? (its not 'officially' supported for etomite any more)

I attempted to post a reply yesterday, but it seems it never made it onto the forum, so here we go again:

Thanks for the replies. I neglected to mention beforehand that I had already created the database manually in Plesk and used that information when I began the installation.
Plesk does not seem to have any discernible options for establishing privileges for DB users, phpMyAdmin didn't either.
Should I delete the database and attempt to allow etomite to create it automatically?

Unfortunately, I'm working through a third party with whom the hosting was previously established ... and he's out of the "office" until Tuesday...

I deleted the manually created DB and attempted to have Etomite make the DB, but that didn't work:

Etomite setup will now attempt to setup the database

Creating connection to the database: Failed!

Please check the database login details and try again.

Any other ideas??

The old MySQL version may very well be the problem... Without doing some digging I can't say for certain that Etomite ever supported versions below MySQL 4.01(?)... Current documentation states MySQL 4.1... Good catch, Mike...
