Is it possible to call the back-end file manager in the front-end with all needed functionalities (browse, show and/or delete ?
What I need is a complete file browser like the Etomite file manager where authenticated users can browse documents and directories.
This because I have to create a Intranet site where documents in a directory structure must be shown.
Can this be done calling the back-end filemanager or do I have to write (or change) a snippet for it?
Users don't have to create new directories or upload files. just browsing through the directories, showing and download the documents will suit.

While I haven't looked recently, there should be at least one or two snippets in the Snippet Library that can be used to list the contents of system directories... Because the front end and back end use separate sessions it would be difficult to integrate back end modules into the front end... Etomite was not originally designed for this functionality and had front end authentication added in after the fact... If you can't find a snippet that suits your needs it probably wouldn't take much coding for you to write one that provides just the basics...
Keep us posted...
EDIT: Here are three that I saw while perusing the Snippet Library...

Thanks Ralph, I've seen those snippets (in the past already) but those only display documents in a given directory.
What I have is a map structure where those documents are , so I have to browse through the maps to see the documents.
This is the functionality wich is in the File Manager and wich I need in the Front-End. I don't see that in the available snippets.
Calling just the available files and display is one.... Calling and display the mapstructure and the ablility to browse trough it is another....
I think I have to make a new snippetcode for this and add those browse functions to it

I wonder if there is some specific open source software out there that does this? I'd be willing to bet there is... you could check SourceForge

Yes there are some :
http://www.webinsta.com/fm.php
http://freshmeat.net.../trufilemanager
And maybe more, but it costs also time to integrate those in Etomite and the functionality is rather more than I want, so I still have to customize.
In that case it's faster to write a little snippet (I think)
My only hope was I could use the File Manager of Etomite or functions of it as I also could use standard API functions, but that's not the case.

Yeah- I'd think you could somehow use the file manager... I have to admit when Ralph starts talking, the technical details cause me to blank out
