Hi,
In looking at the page source for my site, I'm seeing a LOT of stuff that shouldn't be there:
<meta name="author" content="Insite Architects Pty Ltd" />
<meta name="copyright" content="Copyright © 2006-2010 by Insite Architects Pty Ltd. All rights reserved." />
<meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" />
<meta name="googlebot" content="noindex, nofollow, noarchive, nosnippet" />
<meta http-equiv="last-modified" content="Tue, 05 Oct 2010 15:58:33 -0500" />
<meta name="distribution" content="global" />
<meta name="rating" content="general" />
<meta name="no-email-collection" content="https://www.runecube...al-notices.htm" />
<meta name="gmapkey" content="ABQIAAAATHlEPcEjlaOVBbl3hAih5xSCipRF7c95Y7oXHbDT8JTwO0PaDRTU9loAjaq4zJ2Jof4w8k8ZFAcRVg" />
[Stuff that would be OK, I guess..]
<meta name="DC.format" content="[*contentType*]; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<meta name="DC.language" content="en-au" />
<meta name="DC.publisher" content="Insite Architects Pty Ltd" />
<meta name="DC.creator" content="Insite Architects Pty Ltd" />
<meta name="DC.rights" content="Copyright © 2006-2010 by Insite Architects Pty Ltd. All rights reserved." />
<meta name="DC.date.created" content="2010-08-31" />
<meta name="DC.date.modified" content="2010-10-05" />
<meta name="DC.identifier" content="https://www.runecube...free_rune_cube" />
<meta name="ICBM" content="-37.76991667, 145.04075" />
<meta name="geo.position" content="-37.76991667;145.04075" />
<meta name="geo.region" content="au-vi" />
<meta name="geo.placename" content="Ivanhoe, Victoria, Australia" />
Did my site get Hacked and someone put this into it? It appears to be some place in Australia that is doing it...
Maybe I've got some Java Script that is running and dumping this crud into my page... I want to get it gone, not only because it doesn't belong, but to improve the SEO for the site!
Anyone got a clue?

All of that is coming from the snippet MetaTagsExtra. You can comment out the lines required to remove lines you want to hide and change the default settings like geocode etc in the snippet to match your site's specs.

Although it can work well if properly configured, I've never been overly fond of this snippet and rarely use it myself... No offense against Lloyd as he put a lot of work into modifying the original snippet... It's just cumbersome and requires more configuration than some folks care to or know how to make...

the keywords meta tag generally serves no useful purpose. It may have been useful once but no longer.IMO, you can remove meta tags except "description" and "keywords" and record your "robots" data into robots.txt file.

Google doesn't use keywords: http://googlewebmast...s-meta-tag.html
However, that isn't to say other search engines have completely discarded them. I see no harm in using keywords.
