Yes I am new here but I am not new to web design, I am however unfamiliar with the TinyMCE and Etomite way of editing HTML and getting things to work properly. I have recently taken over managing and editing a website for a friend that is powered by Etomite. I have tried googling and found numerous posts on how to get TinyMCe to accept iframes and suc but have found no definitve (someone who doesn't have a lot of experience with eotmite) easy way to get this to function. All the posts relate to editing the tinymce.init and I have no idea where to find that or how to do that.
I don't have a whole lot to do this site, but I do want to bring it up to date and have some appropriate features like the "like" button and such. Please help me figure this out and some guidance for navigating effectively through the admin interface of an eotmite site.

So 24 views and not one reply? Not even a "Uh yeah no way to do that" or "you're an idiot". I am wondering if there is a way to get Etomite to accept HTML5? Apparently I need to add a javascript code to a php file to get this to happen but I can't figure out which one. I am beginning to think it would be easier to just leave this site up while I harvest all the images and such and build one in Dreamweaver. I would figure that an admin or mod here would be able to point me in the right direction or at least tell me if this is impossible. I am also on the 0.6.1.4 build and have no idea how or even if updating to 1.1 would solve some of these issues. Please give me a little something to go on here. This is a website for a non profit organization and I am devoting my free time to make it better so they can get their message out more effectively.

yes update.
add any html like js to a chunk then call the chunk in your template.
manage resources > chunks
manage resources > templates. add {{chunkname}} into your template, replace chunkname with whatever you named it.

How do I go about updating to 1.1? From all the things I've read it seems quite complicated to update to the latest standard of your creation. Can you point me in the right direction

Hey VitaminD, first off.. what I would do is backup everything.. files and db.. even make a down for maintenance file (index.html) and put that in the root, so people see that, then I would run the update, basically it is just uploading the new etomite files. and running the install again. but choosing the upgrade option.
Now it has been a long time since I've done this.. :|
and really the files you would need to upload to your server should only be the manager folder, and the install folder.
that way none of your other files will be messed with.
I will run a test here, if I can find an old version.

alright.. I did forget 1 important file you will need.. index.php
once you've uploaded those files, then type http://yourdomain.com/install to get to the install script..
then choose the bottom one "Upgrade an existing installation"
you will probably get an error on the upgrade of the config.inc.php file, click the "Upgrade file" link, then click the back after it says it is upgraded.
you will now need to run the v1 sql updates which is a link on this page, then you will see a list of the update success/failure messages. you should really get all OK messages, then click the link at the bottom
now click the link "Etomite Manager" and go in and clear the site cache
everything should be good to go now..
